Elder Hoopes took this as we were porting haha
Hello everyone! This was another crazy busy week here in Geneva and I
can't believe how fast time is going! Here is the recap!
Monday: We had our p day and then once it ended we went over to the
Muellers house! I love being at their house and learning from them.
Elder Barnes got some good marriage advice as he is going home at the
end of this transfer and I loved something that they said. They talked
about how when Eve was beguiled by Satan she wasn't with Adam and how
it's important that in marriage we do things together. She said it a
lot cooler and it made more sense than that, but voila it was really
cool.
Tuesday: We woke up early on Tuesday morning and drove to Lyon for
Mission Leadership Council! It was good to be with everyone again :)
every one of my companions that are still in the mission were there
and it was good to be with them all! It was super sad to say goodbye
to a few of them like Elder Boynton (my trainer) and Elder Johnson (my
comp on Corsica for 3 transfers) as they are going home at the end of
the transfer and I won't get to see them again! MLC was great and we
talked about how we need to really purify ourselves if we want to
succeed as a mission. I definitely walked away feeling spiritually
boosted and motivated :) I seriously love President and Sister Brown
so much! After conference we drove back to Geneva and went to a
baptism of one of the Chiesa's boys!
Wednesday: Exchange day! I was in Chambery with Elder Hoopes! But
before the exchange we met with the STL's and talked about presenting
the information we learned at MLC! Then we met up with Chambery at the
church in Geneva and from there Elder Hoopes and I drove to Chambery!
We had a lesson with a less active member and then we hit the road and
contacted! Haha for honestly the first hour I swear not one person
stopped, but then we had a few good conversations in a row :) we
talked to a few guys on a bench and we were able to teach them about
the restoration and they were really interested! Then we had another
lesson with an ami but he didn't show up so we contacted some more!
Haha then randomly Elder Hoopes turns to me and tells me that he left
his apartment keys with his companion Elder Glancy in Geneva...haha so
we made the one hour drive back to Geneva and all slept over at our
place! Also kind of a funny story...as we were walking in the street I
accidentally stepped back by some guy and he just started barking at
me like a dog haha it was weird.
Thursday: so we spent a little bit of time in the afternoon working on
our zone training! Then we went and had a lesson with our ami named
Alain! We met him at Geneva University and we were going to walk and
find someplace to sit, but he wanted to go inside the university and
find a table there! He loves to talk, to say the least :) haha and he
got distracted super easily but ca va. Then we went and had a lesson
with our other ami Anthony! Anthony is 11 years old and is the son of
Sister Zahnd and wants to be baptized June 4th! So we taught him about
scripture study and prayer! Then later that night we had a meeting
with the High Council where we basically just told all the members how
the missionary work is going in the stake and the things we are
focusing on!
Friday: Great day! So we had zone training and it was fun! It's crazy
that elder Barnes and I have presented at zone training 3 times now
and that this was for sure our last one together! Elder Battezzato
also helped us out a little bit and did a great job. Our zone is so
awesome as well. I'll try to send a funny video of us 3 as we talked
about how we didn't achieve our mission goal last transfer, but that
we can regroup as a mission and accomplish it this transfer. Elder
Hoopes recorded it haha and it was a part of our presentation. So
after zone training we started an exchange with the Annecy Elders! I
was with Elder Johnson and it was his second week in the mission and
it was soooo fun :) it was so cool to see him so fired up about
missionary work and I can tell he will be a great missionary. So we
went and visited Ali in the hospital just to see how he's doing and
then we read 2 Ne. 31 with him! Then we went back to the church and
did some 12 weeks with Elder Johnson. FYI 12 weeks is the program that
new missionaries are on for the first 2 transfers of their missions
that help them adjust to missionary work! So then we had about 30
minutes to go out and contact before we had to leave and we had a
really cool experience and had about a 40 minute lesson with a girl
named Sandrine who was really understanding and we exchanged numbers
and hope to see her this next week! Then us and Elder Battezzato,
Barnes and Burton all went back to our house for the night!
Saturday: another great day. So at 12:30 Elder Johnson and I went and
taught Anthony again about baptism and confirmation! Then we all went
and played soccer with a bunch of people at around 1:30! It was also
stake conference this week in Geneva so at 3:00 we had a meeting with
all of the DMP's in the stake and President Brown and it was great.
Then at 5:00 we went to stake conference! It was so good and President
Coppel is such an amazing person. Also President and Sister Brown
spoke! When Sister Brown spoke, President translated for her until the
very end where she read off her testimony in French and it was the
cutest thing ever!!! Then after conference we all went next door to
the church and had dinner with President and Sister Brown!
Sunday: stake Conference! You're not going to believe it...but Atoussa
spoke!! She was baptized one month ago and the stake asked her to
speak in front of everyone and she did such an amazing job!! We were
so happy for her and her knowledge of the gospel is unbelievable. Haha
also I had to translate for all of the English Ward and other English
speakers for about 30 minutes because the person who was going to
translate came late. Haha I was definitely put to the test when I
translated for a 14 year old kid who read straight off of his talk and
spoke so fast. I hope people understood haha. Then after stake
conference they was a little fire side for all the Amis and recent
converts and President and Sister Brown were there with President
Coppel...very great meeting. So that all ended and we went back home
and planned for the week a little bit. Then we went and ate dinner
with the Austin couple...they take such good care of us. And then we
went and did zone numbers!
Thank you all for the support!
