Our first picture with our new companion Elder Battezzato from Sicily,
Italy!! I love him soooo much already and I can already tell you that
this transfer will be more than a blast! Here's to another transfer!
Hello everyone! This week has been a crazy one full of some fun surprises. For starters, we got transfer calls on friday! Elder Barnes and I will be staying together for a 3rd transfer haha. We were SO happy when President told us that! Haha I was the last person that Elder Barnes said goodbye to when we were back home, and now I will be his last companion! We were even more excited to hear that we will be receiving a 3rd companion to drive for us (I lose my driving legality this transfer because it will make more than 1 year in Europe) and his name is Elder Battezzato! He is from Sicily, the island off of Italy! It will be super fun to spend a 3rd transfer with Elder Barnes and to receive another companion! Anyways, here is the quick update! (Also huge thanks to Elder Barnes for letting me use most of his email for this one :):) ) Monday: We went to the United Nations and took a tour with Soeur Holsinger (UN Senior Couple) and the English Elders. We were surprised with how interesting everything was. They showed us some cool rooms where a lot of the debate type stuff happens and where they vote on international law. It was a fun tour and we took some fun pictures with all the nations flags in front of the UN. After the tour we went and cleaned the apartment and did emails and then that night I started an exchange with Elder Teriihaunui from Tahiti!! He is in his 5th transfer. Haha he is seriously such a stud and it was so good to be with him. We went and taught a first lesson to someone named Charles and it went really well! He is going on vacation for a few weeks but he promised to read start reading the Book of Mormon! Tuesday: Elder Teriihaunui and I had studies and then we went and taught Atoussa and Mandy the plan of salvation! Haha it's crazy how much they know and honestly they could've taught it to us. Then we took a bus line and contacted right by Lake Geneva for a little bit :) After Elder Barnes and I switched back we drove down to Chambery to blitz their sector for the rest of the night. We got their around 6ish and I went with Elder Amerjan from California! It was his very last exchange of his mission so we had a good time :) we started off by teaching one of their Amis who wants to get baptized. We showed him the restoration video and talked about baptism! It went really well and he is getting baptized soon! Then we went and contacted in Ville and it was great :) we met some cool people and hopefully people they can start teaching! Elder Amerjan is such a great guy and it was so fun to go on his last exchange. Wednesday: Wednesday we woke up in Chambery and drove home to Geneva and had district meeting. We talked about how we can learn to recognize the Spirit more and the defenition of a successful missionary. It was a good meeting and Elder Mauss (the Geneva DL) did a wonderful job. Later that day we went and taught a man named Bertrand and his wife Alexia! We met them at the institute and they brought one of their kids with them. We taught them about temples and how that was our end goal for them. The spirit was really cool during the rdv and it was cool to be able to show them pictures of James and Heidi's marriage at the temple. They liked it a lot and asked some really good questions. Then we went and visited Ali in the hospital. He is continuing to improve with his health. After he quit drinking alcohol a few weeks ago he had some pretty serious reactions and his liver is still not doing too well. Hopefully he should be out of the hospital this week. Then that night we went and passed a few amis and had Ward Council. It was a good ward council and we made some plans to get Atoussa and Mandy callings Thursday: Thursday was Ascension which is a pretty big holiday in France. We went to the Gex district meeting and talked about how we can work with members better and then went to our ward bbq that they had going on. It was in Versoix pretty close to the lake and it was a beautiful day. You could see all the way across the lake to Mont Blanc and it was incredible. We had some good sausages and chicken and it was fun hanging out with the members. This ward is awesome. Then we went back to the church to start and exchange with the Salve elders. I was in Salève with Elder Trapani!! Elder Trapani is from Sicily, Italy and he is in his first transfer and he is seriously the most stoked missionary I've ever seen :) He was baptized a year and a half ago and seriously is the biggest stud! We went and tried to pass a few people and old Amis and en we finished the night at a members house in the Ward! La famille Monbaron! The wife is a member but the husband isn't, so we shared a spiritual thought on the temple and the blessings of a temple marriage :) they were seriously such a cool family and it was good to have been able to spend some time with them! After we traveled back to Geneva to spend the night with Elder Barnes and Elder Price! Friday: Friday morning we got calls! President Brown made is sound like we were getting transferred because when we answered the phone he said "well, it sounds like you two have had a good run" and then he told us we were staying together for another transfer and we started freaking out haha. After the initial shock wore off we finished our studies and went to meet a new ami named Arman. He is from Albania so we had a fun Google Translate lesson with him and we were able to give him a Book of Mormon in Albanian. Then we went to teach Bertrand and Alexia with Frere Chiesa. We taught them the Restoration, specifically focusing on the importance of the Book of Mormon. The Spirit was really strong during the rdv and both of them committed to read it. Then we passed Ali in the hospital again to give him a blessing. He is improving well and it was good to see some color return to his face and eyes. That night we went to the famille Bentele's home for dinner. They had bought sushi so we had an all-you-can-eat sushi night. Both of us were in heaven haha. It was an awesome night and we shared a thought on repentance and the sacrament. I'm so grateful for repentance and that we can be completely pure. Saturday: Saturday morning we did our studies and then we went and played soccer with some amis and members. Frank came for the first time and really enjoyed it. It is started to get super hot as well. We were dying after being outside for a few minutes. After soccer we ran home and changed and then went to David's baptism in the english ward! It was a really cool service and it's been cool to see how much David has changed. Then after the baptism we went to Nyon to have dinner with Frere Fidalgo and his 2 year old daughter Rose. She is the cutest little girl and he fed us ribs and Merguez! It was super good and we had some good talks about life and how we can improve the missionary work in the ward. We also had a contest to see who could eat 3 hot peppers and go the longest without drinking any water. Elder Barnes lost. It was a really fun night. Oh, we ate escargot as well! Sunday: Sunday was a great mother's day. All the youth spoke during sacrament and talked about their Moms. It was really touching :) I love you Mommy :) Then after church we ate with the Austin couple and then skyped our families! It was SO much fun to see them and talk to them. It was awesome to be able to talk to everyone :) It's been an awesome week! We are receiving our Italian companion Elder Battezzato in a few hours! I will send everyone a quick picture! I hope you all have a great week! I love you all!
Mark 5: 24-36. I have really enjoyed reading about the Saviors life lately and I wanted to share these 12 verses that really touched me this week. "Be not afraid, only believe."
Mark 5: 24-36
24 And Jesus went with
him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had
spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind,
and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up;
and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue
had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the
multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was
done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee
whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why
troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he
saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

Hello everyone! This week was another great week here in Geneva! Here is the week!
Monday: Zone P day! We had all 26 of our zone members here in Geneva and we all met at the church and had a big lunch together. Then from the church we went to a nearby field and played soccer and football! Haha honestly it was really fun. It was good to have everyone in our zone and to pass a few hours together! After p day we went to the Barray's house for a family home evening! Tuesday: Exchange! We did an exchange with Annemasse and I was with Elder Woodward from Washington! He's a stud and I enjoyed being with him. We ate lunch at the Peronnet's house and then from there we had a RDV with Mandy and Atoussa and we went back over the restoration with them! They are doing so well and have just been killing it since their baptisms! We then passed Ali and went over Step 1 of the 12 steps to addiction recovery with him! He asked for a blessing and told us he would stop. After the RDV we asked if he had any alcohol left and he said yes and went to the fridge and dumped it down the drain...good stuff :) We then went and taught Anthony about faith and repentance! We used Sister Brown's idea of repentance with Anthony and had him hold a ball and act like it was a sin. After he completed each step of repentance he got to lift one finger off of the ball until he finished the final step and the ball fell aka he no longer had the sin! Then later that night the Austin couple invited us over to eat dinner and it was super good! The Austin's are amazing people and I'm so grateful for them! Also, got a call from Natasha (Rishon's mom) and she told us that she didn't want Rishon to get baptized on Saturday, but we had a RDV with them on Wednesday to talk about it... Wednesday: So we showed up at Rishon's house and basically his mom didn't feel like he was ready to be baptized and so she didn't want him to. Natasha was supposed to be baptized with him but she has to take care of a few things before! So, they still want to meet and everything but they just aren't ready for baptism yet! But they're incredible and will be ready sometime :) haha so then we had a RDV with a guy named Frank who was contacted about a month ago. We gave him a tour of the chapel and he was super tired and basically falling asleep haha, so we just told him we would talk to him soon! We also did transfer recommendations for the zone for this upcoming transfer which took up a chunk of the day considering the fact we have 26 members! Thursday: Exchange! I was with Elder Burton in Annecy. I love Elder Burton so much and look up to him a lot. He was my ZL in Nice when I first got in the mission and we were in the same apartment for 4 months and so we really got close! We haven't really seen each other for the last 7 months but now that we are in the same zone I was able to go on an exchange with him! He's seriously one of my heroes out here. So, we started off by passing a less active in their Ward who was obsessed with cats haha it was a crazy RDV. Then we went and did a few pass backs for the Ward because we brought the car to Annecy. Then we went and passed a part member family and shared Ether 12:27 and talked about baptism as well. The husband isn't a member but one day :) While we were contacting, we saw some guy playing basketball at a park and so we went and shot with him a little bit and about 20 minutes later we had taught him the restoration and he had a Book of Mormon. It was so good to be able to be with Elder Burton again and we took the coolest exchange pic that I will send haha. Friday: Zone finding day! So Elder Burton and I woke up and drove to Geneva where our whole zone was and we had a big zone finding day! We put all the elders plaques in one bowl and all the sisters in another bowl and we drew 2 out at a time to see who would go with who. I was with Elder Price which was awesome. So basically we had a few places mapped out in Geneva and we just went and found! First was Place de Neuve where we had to get 7 convos, then Plan Palais where we needed a lesson and 2 brochures given out, and then next was contacting by Lake Geneva where you had to give out 15 cards. It was super fun and honestly I love finding and talking to people. We all finished at jet d'eau (the big water fountain in lake Geneva) and took a zone photo! It was awesome and there were some cool things that happened. From there, we had a meeting with our Ward mission leader Fidalgo! Haha he is seriously so cool. Saturday: Haha our whole morning was crazy as we were running a few errands. But, we had our samedi sportif and played soccer at a field by the church. The kids here are super good and it was pouring rain so it was pretty fun. We also went and passed a media referral named Monsieur Lebalia and he was super cool! (We actually have a RDV scheduled with him tonight). Sunday: Fast Sunday! It was so great. Atoussa got up at her first fast Sunday as a member and bore her testimony and it was unreal. She talked about how if she had a 10 francs bill that was old and beaten, that we would all still want it because it is still worth 10 francs. She then compared it to her and how even when she is beaten and life is hard, that she still has our Savior to help. She talked about how much she has changed since her baptism and bore testimony of Jesus Christ. Super touching. Oh ya also there was a crazy thing that happened but I'll keep it out of the email haha. We planned a little bit for the upcoming week and then we had a few errands to run. Then we ate at the Cornetta home and it was super good! Then we did zone numbers. Voilà la semaine!
Also we get our transfer calls this week so we will see what happens! Haha honestly I've never been nervous before getting transfer calls but I can already tell I'll be dying Friday morning ;)
John 14:21 I love how in this scripture Christ explains that in keeping his commandments, we show Him that we love him. It made me reflect on my life and other ways that I show Christ that I love Him. I invite each of you to take a minute and think about what you do to show Christ you love Him and I promise that more ways will come to your mind and he will fill your life with his love as he promises.
Thank you for the support and have a great week!!
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
