Hello! Week 1 of the new transfer has come and gone! Week 1 is usually pretty crazy but this past week was great and there wasn't too much craziness ;)
We spent Monday with the missionaries who were returning home! The departing testimony meeting is always so powerful and this last one especially was! I am so grateful to be able to attend these departing testimony meetings and for the Spirit that is always present. As I have opened my heart and my spirit during these departing meetings I have really been able to receive personal revelation on the person that I need to be and the things that I need to work on to be who Heavenly Father needs me to be.
Another event of week 1 includes the incoming missionaries! This transfer was pretty easy because we only had 2 Elders come into the mission. That was a big change compared to the last 3 transfers where we have had 20+ missionaries! So on Tuesday we went to the airport with President and Sister Brown and met them as they got off the plane! We went back to the Mission Office and took them through an orientation and then went out contacting with them on their first day! I was able to go with Elder Templeton and it was so fun! At one point we were talking to a man about the Restoration and Elder Templeton pulled out the Book of Mormon and testified of it with the best French he could and the Spirit was so strong! We have a return appointment with him this week because of Elder Templeton! It was so cool! I was so happy for him. And he was so excited! He did that multiple times throughout the day while we were out!
We also had Blues Conference on Wednesday and I was again reminded of my call 21 months ago when I opened up my call letter and found out I would be going to Nice with Elder Boynton! It's crazy how fast time is going! But this conference was very powerful. It was held at the Mission Home because there were only 2 Elders who came in. Holding it at the mission home provided a unique atmosphere in which the Spirit abode.
So switching gears a little bit we received a referral from the Lyon ZLs of a girl named Blessing! Wow she is so prepared. We met with her a few times last week and she has set a goal to be baptized on February 18th! She is so humble and her example has really touched me. She is a mother of a little baby girl and she takes such good care of her. She reminds me a lot of you Mommy! So that has been a blessing! We are currently teaching a few people which is nice because we have had time to do it!
We have spent a lot of time over the past month working closely with members and we are starting to see some really cool things because of it! We have multiple families in the ward that are inviting other families to do a family home evening with us this over the next couple weeks. The members here are so amazing I just love them. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to serve a 5th transfer here with them.
We had a cute moment this week with the Ungundi Family! They have a cute little 3 year old boy named Ezra and at the end of the 15 minute rdv we asked him if he would be a missionary one day and he smiled and then started humming "I Am a Child of God" and his parents started to cry and it was really a tender experience.
Also some other fun news! We have found enough investigators and have enough members who want to play basketball so now on Saturday we are going to start playing basketball!
Okay I think those are a few of the main events from last week!! It was a great week and we have another good one ahead of us. Have a great week!
Elder Wade
